Keep Carbs, Calories, Fats and Proteins within balance! Remember that eating is a
way to FUEL your body and to keep it functioning at maximum capacity and strength. Give your body only what it NEEDS not what your taste buds want!! As in all things, too much of one thing is not good. We all know what happens when we have too much of one thing. It’s necessary to balance everything. Be sure to check with your doctor or dietician.
Undo bad habits! Toss the soda, poo poo the fried foods and get off your ash!!!
Sometimes the best remedy for a lifestyle change is taking one baby step at a time. Perhaps you are a big potato chip eater, well, forget the chips. I call this the “Act Like It’s Lent All The Time” program! Remove the bad habits and in its place create new ones! For instance, instead of having that bowl of ice cream change it up for yogurt and fresh fruit. Instead of chips, choose low fat crackers and low-fat cheese. The changes are endless, and the results guaranteed. Remember, success is in consistency and long-term consistency!!
Do exercise or move more than usual! As if I really need to tell you about this. We’ve been hearing this for years and frankly most of us ignore it. The doctor informs me that exercise alone won’t make me drop weight but by combining low cal and movement, is a great cocktail for success. Extra movement is great for stress and overall mental health too. I’ve always left the gym, or returned from a walk, feeling better, haven't you?
Operate between the ears! You can have the biggest heart in the world, the greatest of will powers and always up for the challenge. BUT if you don’t ALWAYS keep it between the ears (IN YOUR MIND) I’m afraid that the struggle will be too great! Everyday begin by telling yourself it’s a “Good Choices” day. Losing weight and keeping on a solid credible program (whichever it might be) hinges on your ability to keep it on your mind and focusing on it all times.
Set attainable goals! Believe me, any progress or success you have WILL impact your health and life. So let your goals be realistic. Do not set goals “I will lose 15 pounds a month for 3 months.” Because we ALL know too well when the goal is not realistic, we feel defeated and feel we have failed. What happens when we feel that way? We begin eating, we stop the program and eventually go back to where we were. NOT THIS TIME my friend. Set those attainable goals and feel the success. It gives you the momentum to continue to achieve! In no time you will be feeling your best and reaping the rewards of a Good Choices lifestyle!
